WHY BUY GREEN-Y?

In the following the economical benefits for a customer living in a building with Green-Y are emphasized. There are four main scenarios depending on how the hot water for domestic use was provided and if a battery was used or not:

1. Green-Y instead of heat pump boiler + battery

  • Annual electricity bill unchanged
  • Savings at installation of up to 60%
  • Total savings after 15 years operation: 45%

 + 5'800 $

2. Green-Y instead of heat pump boiler

  • Savings at annual electricity bill of up to 80%
  • Amortization time of additional investment at installation: 3 years
  • Total savings after 15 years operation: 60%

 + 800 $/y

3. Green-Y instead of electric boiler + battery

  • Savings at annual electricity bill of up to 50%
  • Savings at installation of up to 40%
  • Total savings after 15 years operation: 45%

 + 3'300 $

+ 200 $/y

4. Green-Y instead of electric boiler

  • Savings at annual electricity bill of up to 85%
  • Amortization time of additional investment at installation: 5 years
  • Total savings after 15 years operation: 60%

+ 1000 $/y

Additional remarks

  • Installation costs of Green-Y correspond to the one of a heat pump + battery
  • The higher maintenance costs of Green-Y (pressuretanks) are more than compensated by the longer lifetime of the electricity storage (>20k cycles Green-Y vs. 4k cycles battery)
  • Photo-voltaic systems, which would further increase the economical benefit of Green-Y, were not considered here
